Why Be Calm?
Every day gives us a new opportunity to move forward in a healthy positive direction – mentally, physically, emotionally and spiritually.
Today, I want to encourage you to aim for calmness in your approach to life.
- Calmness keeps your mind focused and clear.
- Calmness keeps your immune system strong.
- Calmness keeps your energy level high.
When we feel anxious, worried, tense or frustrated it not only drains us of our energy but it will make us sick physically if not released on a daily basis.
Always remember we always have a choice. We may not always get to control the circumstances that we find ourselves in, but we always choose how to respond and approach each experience. We always have a choice. That choice will affect your health and well-being, and what happens next for you. Make it the healthiest and most optimistic choice you can. Excess stress, strain and anxiety always has a negative effect on the body. Always: Practice calmness.
One powerful way to keep calm is to practice peaceful moments throughout the day. These mini meditations will instantly release stress and tension, help you regain your focus, presence and energy. Find a quiet place, be present and breathe. Breathe deeply and intentionally and make your exhale a little longer than your inhale. Repeat a calming mantra (“let go”) and give yourself a full 2 minutes to allow the peace and silence to infuse your body and mind. What are you letting go of? The tension, pressure, fear and worry.
By choosing to be present and embrace a calm mindset, you are choosing health and energy for your body, and clear focus for your mind. When we are anxious and worried, we not only exhaust ourselves, but it makes us physically ill. If we don’t consciously choose to release stress, tension and anxiety on a daily basis it becomes toxic to the health of our physical body.
Please don’t dismiss this peaceful practice because of its simplicity. It is the simple, powerful practices done repeatedly that reap spectacular results.
So, remember, we have only one day at a time to live, so let’s live this day consciously and deliberately and choose well.
