Strength For Acceptance

Help for inner strength

If you don’t like something, change it.  If you can’t change it, change your attitude. ~Maya Angelou

We all encounter things in life that don’t seem fair and situations that don’t go our way. We need to be able to create the inner strength it takes to not only overcome but to practice acceptance.

If we keep allowing other people and circumstances to determine whether we will be calm and peaceful, we will be living as a victim of other people and circumstances; up when things are up, and down when things are down.  It’s exhausting, energy draining and unhealthy to live this way.

You can choose to be calm, at ease, and in peace no matter what is going on around you.  It does take practice, discipline and a conscious daily effort to live this way.

  1. Make a decision to deliberately meditate on thoughts that strengthen and empower you. Most of the time when things don’t go our way we live in fear. Fear of what may or may not happen. One of the best ways to conquer this fear and develop inner strength is to mediate on thoughts that strengthen and empower you. Our thoughts can either strengthen and bless us or weaken and hurt us. We want our thoughts to bless and strengthen us!
  1. Get your happy endorphins released with exercise. Exercise keeps your body healthy and strong, releases pent up stress and tension out of your body, and keeps your mind clear and focused. Eat clean to keep your energy level high, and your mind focused and clear.
  1. As you live your day and something or someone tries to frustrate or upset you, ask yourself if this is worth getting all worked up over. Is it worth giving your energy and attention?  Is it worth giving up a moment of your happiness and peace?
  1. Give your day the best you can. That way at the end of the day when you reflect, you know you gave your day the best you had, you can release it and let the results of your work and effort unfold as it should.

So, remember, we have only one day at a time to live, so live it today consciously and deliberately and choose well!
